On March 11 2022 Subaru announced the WRX STI will be canceled due to the recent push for zero emissions cars and emission regulations. Does this mean the STI is dead for good? Probably not although Subaru has not announce when or if the STI will return but they are testing electrification of the STI before producing a production car. Unfortunately in the mean time this leaves an absence in the market for an AWD manual car only being filled by the VW Golf R.
